MB Update

Well, its been a crazy and full few weeks! Thankful to the Lord for His daily grace which is always sufficient.

After a long series of mammograms, more mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, appointments, scans, phone calls, scheduling, blood work etc. it was confirmed that Mom does have breast cancer.

The Facts:

  • Mom has the most common type of breast cancer called invasive ductal carcinoma.
  • It is in both breast (2 tumors in RT breast and 1 in LT)
  • The cancer is still well-differentiated (GOOD!), Estrogen + (GOOD!), Progesterone + (GOOD!) and HER2 - (GOOD!)
  • Surgery is scheduled for a week from today (Wednesday, June 20th) at 11:30 am and will take around 4-5 hours.
  • Mom will have a double mastectomy with reconstruction at the time of surgery (Lord willing)
  • We will have to wait on the pathology report from the breast tissue as well as lymph nodes taken during surgery to know if further treatments are needed.

I will be updating our blog periodically around the time of the surgery so you can know how you can be praying with us. If you're checking in, please feel free to leave a comment on the post for Mom to see as a word of encouragement!

Though the last several weeks have been very stressful for our family, it is evident that the Lord has been near and is giving us peace. Thank you to all who have been praying! I'm so glad that Mom is enjoying a week at the beach with her girlfriends right now :)

We trust the Lord is using this for our joy in Him and and for His glory. Praise Him in advance for all He is doing and will do through this trial.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5:1-5)
