International Mountain Trip 2008 (where it all started for us!)
Thankful that many friends were able to make it to our wedding! One of the greatest blessings of Desiring God Community Church is being surrounded by so many others with a similar passion and heart for the nations. We had another sweet taste of this last night at our first international ministry team meeting. We pray that the Lord would use us to be a part of what He is doing here in Charlotte among the nations, truely He has brought the nations here!
We love our apartment community and believe that the Lord led us to this particular place. We are thankful to be in an area where we can begin forming new friendships with internationals, especially Indians. Joshua misses India and it is always refreshing for him to get to be submersed in the culture again. Joshua and I both miss our dear Indian friends from our time at Clemson. We learned so much from them and I hope they learned from us as well. Even as Joshua is home from India, we have enjoyed staying in touch with a handful of his close friends, especially Aravind and Shrikant.
Just last week, Joshua and I were out walking and we ran into another Indian couple who were dropping off their trash. Joshua began speaking some Hindi with the man and within 10 seconds the lady was also out of the car, full of excitement, amazed to see this tall white man speaking Hindi! She is due with her first baby any day now and we also learned that they are from Pune! In addition to this couple there is another couple expecting their first child in a month and they are from Pune as well! I met this particular woman in the little gym at our apartment. We are praying that the Lord would provide opportunities soon for us to connect with these new friends that we might love on them and their growing families :)
We are thankful for this season here as we begin our marriage in our own culture. Marriage has enough culture shock of its own, mostly adaptations that we have found to be sweet blessings! We are excited to invest our lives in Charlotte for this season until the Lord leads us otherwise. While there is part of our hearts that longs to be back in India, we know that God has a plan for us here right now: "Wherever you are, be all there!" - Jim Elliot
