Meditating on Psalm 127 as we head out for one last work weekend in Clemson before the Crosspoint Church interns move in next week! We are excited for this trip, to finish all the hard work so that our house can finally be a home again for these ladies.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127
Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127
The Lord keeps bringing us back to this psalm. In many ways it feels like the theme of the last year for us, especially the last 6 months since Karis was born. The Lord has been so good to remind us of our dependence on Him, that unless HE restores this house, all our labors are in vain!
So good also to be reminded of the truth that children are a blessing from the Lord, both in the really fun times and in the hard times of parenting, especially as we have been traveling so much.
